General Notes

This position is in the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (CREEES) at UT. This is a grant-funded position and continuation will be contingent upon renewal of funding as well as job performance. This position is for 35 hours/week and is funded for a 12-month period.


Purpose

The Multimedia Content Producer is needed to coordinate the production and promotion of The Slavic Connexion podcast, which is an essential part of our grant initiatives and programming. In addition, this position will assist the Director on an occasional basis with other special projects and events.


Responsibilities

Coordinate the production of the “Slavic Connexion” podcast and any associated content (videos, blog, etc). Tasks entailed may include, but are not limited to:

o Correspond with guests and coordinate the recording session(s)

o Edit the raw interviews and package the files into the podcast for upload and sharing

o Promote the podcast and individual episodes via social media and email campaigns

Work closely with the CREEES director and relevant UT faculty and staff to help with administrative functions of special projects and events and/or produce digital media materials to amplify and promote center research, networks, and opportunities. Special projects may include, but are not limited to:

o Assisting with the appointment process and hosting of visiting scholars from the region under CREEES’ purview, when large numbers of scholars are expected in an academic year

o Coordinating major events such as academic conferences or events related to the promotion of center activities (Explore UT guests, concerts, etc.)

o Arranging for media coverage of major CREEES activities

o Creating short informational and promotional videos, audio files, and web content as needed for faculty, student, and center needs and initiatives as they arise


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience in multimedia production and promotion. Demonstrated experience in podcast production, sound engineering, video editing and production, and web page creation. Ability to navigate a wide variety of internal and external relationships with a professional demeanor. Experience managing work toward meeting deadlines and stated targets. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.


Preferred Qualifications

MA in Russian / East European Studies or related field. Graphic design experience. Experience building and maintaining up-to-date website content, PR, and social media. Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team.


Salary Range

$43,750 + depending on qualifications (FTE salary $50,000 prorated at 35 hours per week)

o A flexible work arrangement for local (Austin, TX area) remote/telework is available
