Lab Research Assistant (Part-Time, Temporary, Full time)

Location: Austin, Tx MediaScience® (www.mediasciencelabs.com) conducts marketing research for large television and media companies such as Warner Media, Hulu, CBS, Google/YouTube, and many more. We apply the rigor of experimental research to the evaluation of various media and advertising platforms using a variety of research tools and methods including psychophysiology, eye tracking, traditional surveys and more. Position Summary MediaScience employs Research Assistants to collect in-person biometric, facial coding, eye tracking, and survey data in our testing facility. These individuals serve as the “gatekeeper” between our research panel and the company. The Research Assistant must present the appropriate MediaScience image to research participants while being courteous, understanding, professional, and maintaining scientific rigor with experimental procedures. This role reports directly to the Office Manager at the Austin location. Openings are for part-time and full-time, non-exempt positions, per FLSA guidelines. Core Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare lab equipment and computer programs for in-person research. Equipment and programs include various research software (such as iMotions, SurveyMonkey, and Hark Connect), video playing software, eye tracking tools, biometric sensors, and other computer tools.

  • Moderate research groups of 2-4 people alone and ensure participants understand and follow session instructions and protocol.

  • Oversee up to 40 participants as part of a team on some occasions and ensure participants understand and follow session instructions and protocol.

  • Facilitate logistics, such as greeting participants and compensating them.

  • Help with recruiting and scheduling research subjects from our private panel.

  • Help with a variety of tasks around the lab as needed.

  • Perform facility opening and closing duties.

  • Excellent computer skills with willingness to learn new tools.

  • Ability to moderate groups of people.

  • Ability to handle tasks that require multiple steps.

  • A desire to learn about advanced research tools and exhibit some interest in market research, media research, usability research, and/or biometric/eye tracking research.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Professional demeanor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates Degree, and/or currently enrolled in Senior level college courses or graduate school with a relevant major or interest.

Pay and Hours One position is part-time (8-20 hours a week), pays $14/hour, and is temporary for about 6 months with the possibility of being permanent. One position is Full time (40 hours a week), pays $14/hour, and is permanent For students, MediaScience can work with the respective College/University for student employees to receive college credit. We aim to be flexible with student schedules, and currently have weekend and evening shifts available. MediaScience hopes to give a current college student (grad or undergrad) or recent graduate the opportunity for hands-on experience with advanced research tools and logistics of running real research studies for prominent media clients.
