Social Impact Film Festival

This semester, we are proud to announce that we will be producing our second annual Social Impact Film Festival to highlight a variety of contemporary social issues told through short films and feature-length documentaries. This year, our festival will be in-person for the first time ever, and will happen in Boston, Massachusetts! However, in our efforts to be accessible to all and to give these stories the greatest reach they can have, we will continue to have a virtual element as well, which will allow students to view more films, select the films they want to watch, and watch films in their own time.

We are accepting submissions from students, professors, and professionals, for any and all films tackling any social issue. There are discounts for student submissions as well! We hope that by doing this, our festival can embrace all social impact films, help filmmakers receive recognition and input, and add to the discussion of social issues.

Early Bird submissions have officially opened and the window closes on November 30, 2022. Regular submissions will be closed on December 31, 2022, and late submissions will be accepted until January 21, 2023. We hope to provide students and faculty plenty of time to prepare something for the festival! When they are ready, submissions can be submitted on our FilmFreeway page!

What’s in it for the students? All submissions will be reviewed by our judges, many of whom are established in the film industry and will be providing thorough feedback. Additionally, films that receive awards will be given a certificate and be spotlighted on our website and social media. Lastly, the top three films will be offered the opportunity to work with our organization on an impact campaign in which our summer interns will work with the film’s team to craft a campaign plan and help their film have the greatest positive impact it can have.
